The Blue Jays are losers and I am very proud

Hey Fair Players, This weekend the Blue Jays — Toronto’s professional baseball team — lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers. But honestly my dudes, I could not be more proud of this incredible team.And I know many other Torontonians and Canadians are too. Full disclosure — I am not a huge baseball fan. I came of age in the 90s, and was fully on-board the first time the Jays won the World Series. But since then, my interest has waned. For this 2025 World Series I have been fully in camp "fair weather fan." That said, it has been SO MUCH FUN to watch this team play. They didn’t just play the game, to execute baseball technique brilliantly. They actually played the game. For the whole season, they were having fun, with each other, the fans, and the other team. They were spontaneous and responsive. It’s clear they genuinely love each other as friends and teammates. Sure they wanted to win — but equally important was enjoyment of the game for its own sake. I want to live in a world where enjoyment, play, love, fun, friendship, spontaneity and responsiveness are the point. And the Jays played that game. Toronto-based comedian, and newly-die-hard-Blue-Jays-fan James Roque made a couple of great Instagram reels, which pretty much sums it up. This video about becoming a Jays fan and what that’s brought to his life, aptly called “Don’t get into Baseball.” And this video, where Roque thanks the Blue Jays after their loss.
